What is dock connecter?

A dock connector is a proprietary connector invented by Apple Inc. and used in Apple products such as the iPod, iPhone and iPad. The connector is used to charge and sync devices with a computer or other devices such as speakers or docks. The dock connector has changed over time, with the original version being a 30-pin connector and the newer Lightning connector being a smaller design with a reversible plug direction. The dock connector also supports data transfer, allowing users to upload and download files and music from their devices. However, many new Apple products have moved away from using the dock connector in favor of wireless charging and data transfer methods.
